About Us
The idea for Little Munchkins was born shortly after my wedding in 2007 when my husband, Derek, and I began discussing how we wanted to raise our future children. Having a background in science, I was already aware of some of the toxic chemicals that we are all exposed to on a daily basis, but once I really began to research the ingredients in commonly used baby products I was shocked to find that the situation was bigger than I had imagined. Thankfully, during my research I found that there were many healthy products already available on the market. The only problem was that most of the products were sold far from where I live in Milton, Ontario. So Derek and I decided to import the items in ourselves. Since I began operating Little Munchkins, the response has been incredible. Through Little Munchkins I have had the pleasure to meet many health and environmentally conscious parents who want a higher standard of living for their families.
Derek and I share the belief that good health and environment protection are one in the same. After all, a fish is only as healthy as the water it swims in. Call me optimistic, but I truly believe that we have the power to give our children a better world than was given to us. The only way to accomplish this goal is to gradually make better choices in our daily living.
I personally select the merchandise that I sell. Everything that you will find here has a health or developmental benefit to your child, and in many cases the benefits extend to the environment as well.
In 2003, I had the pleasure of volunteering at an organic farm/school in Costa Rica’s Orosi Valley. It was there that I learned that the benefits of organic are three fold. It begins with better working conditions for the farmers and labourers working the field due to the lack of pesticide use. In many under-developed countries, (where our produce comes from) hazardous agro-chemicals, many of which are banned in Canada, are still widely used and cause serious health risks to the farmers, such as cancer. Secondly, organic practices are undoubtedly a better option for the environment due to superior management of our resources and by eliminating contaminants. Last but not least, buying organic is a healthier choice for the consumer. The same chemicals that are detrimental to the environment, could potentially be harmful to us when ingested, inhaled or absorbed through the skin.
Thank you for visiting our website, and I wish good health and happiness to you and your family.
