About Little Munchkins
My name is Malene. I'm a mom, blogger, and podcaster. And I've suffered three miscarriages. I was surprised at the lack of online support from moms who shared their real stories, real feelings, and real situations.
Hence, Little Munchkins.
"A miscarriage is a natural and common event. All told, probably more women have lost a child from this world than haven't. Most don't mention it, and they go on from day to day as if it hadn't happened, so people imagine a woman in this situation never really knew or loved what she had. But ask her sometime: how old would your child be now? And she'll know."
Hi there – and welcome to Little Munchkins! This is a place where we talk about all of those uncomfortable topics that no one else wants to talk about – topics that are taboo and embarrassing. Little Munchkins is a blog and a podcast and provides us all with a place to discuss! I created Little Munchkins based on a need that I found after going through a bad period in my life. I started Little Munchkins after suffering three miscarriages on our journey to get pregnant with our second child. I felt very alone and wanted to create a place where we talk about topics to make the conversation as normal and common as miscarriages are. But as a new parent, I realized that miscarriage is just one of the topics that us women don’t talk about even though we should. We should be talking about trouble around breastfeeding, complications with the birth, the pain associated with childbirth, the emotional rollercoaster of becoming a parent, and postpartum depression. I decided to share my story in my book, We Need To Talk About Miscarriage: My Story of Loss, Grief, Acceptance, and Fertility Treatments, with the hopes of helping another woman who may feel alone after a miscarriage. But who am I? I’m an entrepreneur and business author, but most importantly, I’m a mom. You won’t see my kids on here – they didn’t ask for this. Instead, you can read about my experiences as a mom, questions from other moms, and much more! Thanks for stopping by and please reach out with your stories! COMMON QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
How did you come up with this idea?
After going through three miscarriages, I wanted to create something for women struggling with the same feelings and experiences as me.
What tools do you use when you work?
I usually work on the computer, but I love writing things down. You’ll often find me with a planner and a notebook. In fact, I probably have hundreds by now. You’ll find shopping links around the site, as I get everything via Amazon.
Where do you get new ideas for your blog posts?
Everything you will find on the site is something I’ve experienced myself or something I’ve wanted to dive into. I had so many questions when I was pregnant and miscarrying, so I wanted to share those experiences.
Where does your entrepreneurial spirit come from and what’s it all about?
I’m not really sure where it started, but I remember trying to sell a drawing I made to a neighbour for $4 once. They didn’t buy it and I thought it was super rude. I graduated right after the financial crisis of 2008 and since there were no jobs, I decided to jump into entrepreneurship. Little Munchkins wasn’t even a thought until I had lost my third pregnancy.
Can I buy your older books?
Yes, my older books are still available online on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and many other online shopping portals, including iTunes. Simply search “Malene Jorgensen” to find them. And yes, I still write new books on occasion, so more will come.
Can I share your work?
Yes, of course, you can! But I do ask that you give proper credit and that you link to the post and images. Please don’t copy the image from the website and then share it, as it is a copyright infringement and is punishable by law. Contact me here if you have any questions.
